The Linen Cardigan is a simple piece made from the finest Belgian flax, that covers and cools with an elegant drape. Our linen is spun and dyed in Italy, where the mother-of-pearl buttons are also crafted. In California, the beautiful linen is knit into cardigans in one of the few remaining American knitting facilities. Designed with two front pockets, and elbow–length, kimono-style sleeves, the cardigan’s subtle texture and breathability make it the perfect addition to any summer outfit.Discover our process

Farming | Belgium
The linen comes from flax grown in Belgium, where for centuries this fast growing, beautiful plant has been sown and made into the finest fabric. Linen is one of the most sustainable, natural fibers because growing the flax requires no irrigation and very little chemical treatment. Once grown, the flax is pulled from the soil and left in the field from anywhere between two weeks and three months. This process, called “retting,” allows the microorganisms, which is in the dirt to break down the thick stems of the flax plant. The linen is certified through the Masters of Linen organization. This certification ensures that, first, at least 98% of extracted linen fibers must be of EU origin and dew-retted, and second, that 100% of the linen production process is done in Europe, by requiring total traceability in every stage of linen production. Compliance with certification requirements is verified through an annual audit to ensure quality, labor and environmental safety standards.
Spinning and Dying | Italy
The flax is brought to Bergamo, Italy, a city at the foothills of the Mergamo Alps, where it is spun into the linen fabric. The linen is then dyed in nearby Milan in an Oeko-Tex certified facility. This certification ensures that no harmful chemicals were used in the dying process, which is safer for their employees, reduces pollution, and ensures our linen shirt is clean and pure when you put it on.
Buttons | Italy
The custom buttons come from Gritti Group in Grassobbio,Italy in a facility that has Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification. They are made from beautiful, iridescent Mother of Pearl.
Knitting | California
Once we have our linen fabric, it is brought to Commerce, California to Ball of Cotton—a family run company, and one of the last remaining high-end knitters in the country. Here our sweaters are knit into the perfect weight sweaters that are breathable, soft, and versatile.
