Unafraid of bold colors and unexpected combinations, Shashi is a jewelry line that promotes self-expression. Handcrafted in New York City from natural materials ranging from gemstones and crystals to cotton and silk, Shashi’s jewelry is thoughtfully designed to be versatile and treasured for years to come.
Shashi was born out of the bohemian, high-end jewelry line Ruby Kobo, created by friends Danna Kobo and Yuvi Alpert. After a successful launch and becoming a part of the CFDA’s Fashion Incubator, Danna began to focus on Shashi as a more accessible line that shared the same vision for free-spirited yet refined jewelry.
Combing raw and earthy elements with a modern, sophisticated simplicity, Shashi aims to create timeless styles for people in all stages of life. The design process is “definitely not trend driven,” Danna says of the brand, “I like that Shashi has a timeless quality to it, not driven by trends or seasons.”
The dynamic colors and gemstones hint at the exotic inspiration behind the designs. India is one of Danna’s favorite cultural references for the its bright, bold use of color and texture. The name Shashi itself is from India, meaning ‘moon’, and shows the influence of natural beauty and cultural craft on the jewelry.
Globally inspired but locally made, Danna and her team work hard to get everything done, but have fun doing it as well. A passion for exquisite jewelry that can hold personal meaning has made Shashi a line of jewelry that you want to stack, share and hold onto for years to come.
