Working with delicate, milky porcelain, Amy Hamley of Redraven Studios creates objects steeped in nostalgia and timeless beauty. She started the studio in Pittsburgh, PA in 2006 after training formally as a potter and painter. and was joined by her husband, Ryan in 2010.
Amy has always had obsession with design, and is constantly imagining objects cast in porcelain. While her work has naturally evolved over time, Amy attributes meeting Ryan in 2010 and falling in love as a seminal turning point in her life, of course, but also her creations. She explains that “Ryan and I are both natives of western Pennsylvania where rural landscapes and farmland are plentiful. For me, finding love and discovering objects around his family farm turned out to be the perfect catalyst for capturing fleeting moments in porcelain.”
Fittingly, home decor from Redraven reflects their lives in western Pennsylvania, and is inspired by objects that remind them of their childhood and family mementos. By reproducing these objects beautifully in porcelain, Amy and Ryan hope to merge permanence and ephemera to make keepsakes for generations.
