The factory that makes these chic baby clothes from luxurious and natural yarns is a French grandmother’s kitchen, favorite chair, or balcony. This is because the factory workers here are just real mamys, or grannies in English, who are using their knitting skills to make sweet and beautiful items for babies throughout the world for Mamy Factory.
A unique model for a company, it gives women aged 59 to 91 in France a chance to knit items at their own pace in their own homes, and creates a product truly made with love and craftsmanship. Stephanie Leone began the company in order to connect generations. Participating in this project gives many of the women a additional revenue, and for some helps them feel more connected to others even though they may be homebound. You can find the whole list of the knitters on Mamy Factory’s website here.
Mamy Factory’s knitwear is made from the softest yarns produced by French woolen mills located in Burgundy, the Creuse, and in the Nord. A truly French product, the designs are sized down versions of the timeless and chic style the country’s fashion is renown for, but made with extra love and pride.
