Along the shore in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, wild roses grow in vibrant hues of red. As an artists, these colors inspired Jes as she grew up among the abundant natural beauty of the coast and eventually led her to makeup.
While in college Jes took a class on herbal medicine that opened her eyes and changed her path. She created her own major in environmental sustainability and began reading every book she could on plants. Jes started using this knowledge to blend teas and she eventually transitioned into body care and makeup.
“My overall mission is to help people become inspired by nature and pursue more of a connection to it.”
Jes views her business as the chance to be the change she wants to see in the world, so creates small batch, handmade products that support and celebrate the natural world. Good For You uses 100% organic or fair trade materials and nearly 50% of the ingredients are grown or foraged by Jes herself in Cape Cod.
Each item started as a daydream. “A new product comes to me as a vision in my head. I see the packaging and all the herbs or oils I would want in it. Sometimes it takes years to make,” Jes told us of her process.
Dedicated to a revival site of ancient beauty secrets, Good For You creates colorful palates from plant based dyes, and revitalizing, soothing formulas from oils and herbs that are local or organic and sustainably sourced. With so much natural beauty, it makes you wonder why we ever settled for the artificial.
