In a digital age, the sense of touch is often lost. Egg Press delivers a creative punch of sensory joy with its letterpress stationery. Letterpress is a centuries-old printing process that uses a relief method that leaves an impression in the paper that you can see and feel. Considered one of the pioneers in the resurgence of letterpress printing, every card from Egg Press is printed by hand in the Portland, Oregon studio.

In 1999 Tess Darrow left her product design job at Nike to devote herself to her passion for graphic design and letter printing. While building a business based off creativity, she also wanted to be sure that it did not harm the environment along the way.

Environmental sustainability is built into every aspect of the company. The paper used is either entirely tree-free (100% cotton) or contains a minimum of 30% recycled content, as do the envelopes. In addition to using locally sourced materials whenever possible and cutting on waste, even the cleaning process is considered. The presses are cleaned with citrus-based cleaners and use rubber-based inks. The slow drying ink allow them to cut ink waste by over 50% than if they used soy based inks by requiring fewer press clean-ups, no wasted ink from the “drying out” process, etc.

With hand-drawn illustrations and textile inspired patterns, Egg Press brings the tactile experience of letter writing back in style and is the perfect way to spread holiday cheer to near and far.
