Reports claim Syrian refugees - many of them children - have been found making apparel for major brands such as Asos, Zara and Marks and Spencer in Turkey. Children as young as 15 have been found working 12 hour days making less than £1/hour. These retailers claim they were “unaware” of non-compliance and have blamed these instances on sub-contracting within the supply chain to illegal factories without their knowledge.
