Setting a New Standard
It’s been quite a year. This year, barriers to marriage broke down, a historic global climate deal was reached and a new standard was set for the way our clothing is made. This year, we have also been reeling from violence in our own country, a company that we respected that was found to be lying to us on a grand scale, and terrorism and a refugee crises that the world just doesn’t know how to absorb.
We get to choose something better.
What we have learned from all of this is that our world is small and the decisions that we make can have an enormous impact. Just by being aware of the origins and the process behind the things we choose to buy, we’re saying that within these times we have power. Within an industry that has lost control of its supply chain and with it lost any responsibility to people and planet, we can do something different. We get to choose something better.
This doing something better goes far beyond a feel-good donation to a cause, it gets to the very core of everyday decency. By doing right every day, we don’t just put a bandaid over an issue, like child labor, poverty or global warming, we actually have the power to solve the issues once and for all.
So what are your resolutions for the year ahead? This is the focus for us on the year ahead: we’re committed to providing the highest quality products and demonstrating what that quality means, where the products come from, how they are made, and who the skilled people are who are making our pieces. We are resolved to making clothing with you—the wearer—as the main focus. We know that you are very busy people, working to be great, as you wear many hats. We’re resolved to make clothes that are easy, beautiful and can bring you from the boardroom to a night out with friends in style.
Happy New Year! Cheers to a hopeful year ahead.
